One dead and two missing after Channel rescue
Tragedy struck in the English Channel as one person has been confirmed dead and two others are still missing after a rescue operation went awry.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a small boat carrying migrants capsized in the choppy waters of the Channel. The French coastguard launched a rescue operation to save the passengers on board, but only managed to pull one person out of the water alive.
Despite their best efforts, the coastguard was unable to locate the two missing individuals, and the search was called off due to worsening weather conditions.
Authorities are now working to identify the deceased individual and notify their next of kin. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by migrants attempting the perilous journey across the Channel in overcrowded and often unseaworthy vessels.
Our thoughts are with the families of those affected by this tragic event, and we hope that the missing individuals are found safe and well.
