Navalny’s mother ‘given hours to agree to secret burial’
Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s mother was allegedly given hours to agree to a secret burial for her son following his poisoning in Siberia.
Navalny fell ill on a flight in August and was later transferred to a hospital in Berlin, where doctors confirmed he had been poisoned with a nerve agent. His family believes he was targeted for his political activism against the Russian government.
According to reports, Navalny’s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, was pressed by Russian authorities to agree to a secret burial, but she refused. Navalny survived the poisoning and has since returned to Russia, where he was arrested and sentenced to prison for violating parole in a previous case that he claims was politically motivated.
The case has drawn international condemnation and raised concerns about human rights in Russia.
