Putin warns West against sending troops to Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a warning to Western countries against sending troops to Ukraine, stating that it could lead to a “direct military confrontation” between Russia and the West.
Putin’s comments come amidst increasing tensions in the region following Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists.
The Russian leader has also accused the West of trying to provoke Russia by stationing troops in Eastern Europe and conducting military exercises near its borders.
The warning has raised concerns about the possibility of a larger conflict erupting in the region, with both sides engaging in brinkmanship and rhetoric that has escalated tensions.
