My twin died before prom, now we’re helping others go
Losing my twin sister was the hardest thing I have ever had to endure. We were inseparable from the day we were born, and I never could have imagined navigating life without her by my side. When she passed away suddenly just a few weeks before our high school prom, I was devastated.
As I struggled to come to terms with my grief, I knew that I wanted to do something to honor her memory and help others who were also facing difficult times. That’s when the idea to start a scholarship fund for students who couldn’t afford to attend prom came to me.
With the help of our community, we were able to raise enough money to send several students to prom that year. It was a bittersweet experience for me, but knowing that we were able to bring some joy to others in the midst of our own pain was incredibly healing.
Since then, we have continued to grow the scholarship fund and have helped even more students attend prom. It has become a way for me to keep my sister’s memory alive and spread positivity in a world that can often feel dark and overwhelming.
Although I will always miss my twin dearly, I take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on through the smiles and laughter of the students we have been able to help. Prom will always hold a special place in my heart, thanks to the beautiful memories I shared with my sister and the legacy we have created together.
